Road construction on Highway 1 near Cambria to transition to overnights next week

Posted

Drivers on the north coast of San Luis Obispo County will get a reprieve from daytime traffic jams starting next week.

Some drivers trying to get between Harmony and Cambria reported being stuck in traffic for between one and two hours on Wednesday because of road construction.

Caltrans says work on the Highway 1 pavement resurfacing project will move to the overnight hours starting next week.

Alternating lane closures will occur Sunday night, June 30 and Monday night, July 1 from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., then work will be suspended for the rest of the week for the July 4 holiday.

Construction will resume Sunday, July 7 and continue overnights through Friday morning each week from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.

Caltrans says the project is expected to be complete this August.
