The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman killed in a head-on crash in Carpinteria Saturday morning as Martha Ramos Quintana, 54, of Oxnard.

It happened at about 6:36 a.m. on Carpinteria Avenue at Bailard Avenue and involved a utility van and car.

Sheriff’s officials say it appears the van crossed over the double yellow lines, crashing head-on into the car carrying a Montecito family with two teenage boys.

The van’s passenger, identified as Quintana, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 41-year-old man from Oxnard, and the four people inside the car were all taken to the hospital but are expected to survive, officials said.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash.

Anyone with information on the crash that may help investigators is asked to contact Senior Deputy Jeff Farmer at (805) 961-7514 or JLF3077@sbsheriff.org.
