Preparations for the 2019 Santa Maria Elks Rodeo are underway and there are some new things fans can look forward to this year.
One big change is new seating. The old bleachers were taken out last summer to be replaced with new stands that provide extra seating.
Organizers say rodeo favorites, including the Flying Cowboys, Camp Buckaroo, and Mutton Busting will all be back, along with some new events that will be announced at a later date.
Also returning this year is the queen contest and the rodeo’s Golden Circle of Champions campaign, which gives back to kids battling cancer.
” As long as this community has imagination and heart, and it truly does, this year will be bigger and better and will give back even more than we have in the past,” said Johnna Clark, Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Media Director.
The rodeo is scheduled to take place this year from May 30 to June 2. The parade will be held on Saturday, June 1.
