Pizza, groceries, payment plans being offered to federal employees in Lompoc

Help is being offered to federal workers in Lompoc and other parts of Santa Barbara County as the government shutdown stretches into day 34.

The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County is extending free food distribution to federal employees Friday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at locations in Santa Maria, Lompoc and Santa Barbara.

Wildwest Pizza and Grill in Lompoc has been offering free pizzas to federal employees for a few weeks now. The restaurant says it expected to have given out more than 400 pizzas by Thursday.

Grocery Outlet in Lompoc announced Thursday federal employees can receive $10 toward any in-store purchase for every week that the shutdown continues.

The City of Lompoc is offering assistance to federal employees who live there and are affected by the shutdown.

Vandenberg Village CSD also offers a 12-month payment plan if federal employees need more time to pay their bills.

Some of the 800,000 federal employees financially impacted by the government shutdown include a handful of unpaid workers at the Lompoc Penitentiary.
