Sunshine begins today, lasts into the extended forecast

Good morning Central Coast! Who is ready for sunshine, I know I am!

The few systems that brought rain and significant cloud cover have pushed east and now it is time for sunshine to take over as a large high pressure system builds in the Pacific.

This high pressure will continue to banish cloud cover and act as a block, diverting some showers in the pacific to the North plus temps are set to warm significantly!

High temps today are going to be significantly warmer than previous days, even some south coast communities will reach 70. Upper 60s will be significantly more common but even those are a marked temp increase from the last few days!

Some onshore winds will make for slightly cooler temps along our western beaches. That being said even those cooler temps will be very comfortable!

Other than the sunshine one aspect of the forecast that will be noticeable is the winds. Northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph will continue with some gusts up to 45 mph for passes, peaks and canyons in Santa Barbara County. Those winds have prompted a high wind advisory for portions of the Santa Barbara County south coast as well as high elevations.

Additionally there is a high surf advisory for the West facing beaches for wave heights of 10 to 15 feet with some locally dangerous rip currents possible. That advisory remains until 6:00 AM Friday. this will be a great beach day, just be cautious if heading into the water.

Into the last couple of working days, sunshine in the day will continue to warm us up, highs for most communities will climb into the 70s, even an 80 or two is possible into early next week. Alongside the warm afternoons the clear overnight conditions will keep us a touch chillier, layers are the key if you are out and about in the early mornings.

Southern California has the chance for a system into the weekend, that is not expected to impact us beyond a little cloud cover but it is something to watch.

Have a wonderful day Central Coast!
