Sunny weekend conditions mix with a storm to our east

Good morning Central Coast! We made it to Friday, this weekend is going to be wonderful with abundant sunshine!

This morning is another clear one with no major areas of fog or cloud cover, without that layer of "insulation" though morning temps are cold. California valley has dipped down into the upper 20s so grab that extra layer on the way out the door you will need it!

There is still some lingering offshore winds that are leading to gusts 15-30 mph. That is below the advisory level criteria but still worth a mention.

Our only currently active advisory is for high surf, though that advisory should expire 9 a.m. this morning. Until then 8-12ft breakers are possible as well as lingering rip current risk.

Today will be a warm one with highs climbing towards 70 for many locations with lots of sunshine!

There is a low pressure moving into SoCal from the east and will be bringing a few passing chances for showers to our far interior valleys. This will be a minimal impact at best with a few thunderstorms in the Ventura County mountains. Those may drift into the upper elevations of Santa Barbara county but that will be limited.

The Saint Patrick’s Day weekend looks nice with temps in the 60s and 70s with some warming on Monday and Tuesday where some folks will see highs in the mid-70s before temps retreat a little later next week.

Finally, the extended forecast looks pretty nice through 7 days BUT the deeper extended outlook still looks to have some rain potential. The Climate Prediction Center’s 8-14 day outlook is for some rain opportunities with temps being held in check.

Modeling indicates March 21st-24th could see some rainfall with more rain possible near the close of the month.

Models have been suggesting activity picks back up but this particular run was more aggressive today than yesterday. At this point, it is just something to monitor as details are likely to change.

Have a wonderful day Central Coast!
