Gusty winds cause concern as we move into the weekend

Good morning Central Coast! We made it to Friday and with that to the end of a very cloudy pattern.

As we move towards sunshine though tricky conditions are expected, winds, waves and some rain is all in the forecast. This more disruptive forecast is all thanks to the transition between airmasses as the upper level trough that has brought us cool weather over the past week departs the region.

For the first day this week there are no major fog concerns this morning. There are some strong lingering gusts along our southcoast, be cautious of that.

Strong onshore flow and deep moist layer will maintain cooler temperatures than usual across The Central Coast through this evening. Again, some isolated mist or drizzle is possible with deeper marine layer but most folks won’t see much rainfall, hundredths of an inch are expected at most.

Temps have warmed a couple of degrees but we are still cooler than normal for this time of year.

Gusty northwest to north winds are expected, especially affecting certain areas such as the Central Coast and southwestern SBA County mountains and coast. A wind advisory will go into place at 10pm for most of the Central Coast and linger until 3 AM PDT Sunday for the south coast. Northwest winds are anticipated to range from 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph during this period.

Dry weather is expected to prevail over the Central Coast from Monday through Thursday, with varying amounts of night and morning low clouds and fog along coastal areas. I expect fewer stubborn clouds compared to conditions this week.

Temperatures are forecast increase to several degrees above normal for many areas away from the immediate coast on Tuesday and Wednesday. Cooling is anticipated on Thursday, with temperatures slightly below normal for most areas.

Have a wonderful day and weekend Central Coast!
