Happy Friday Central Coast! We made it to the weekend (nearly) and we are close to beautiful sunny skies, just not all the way there yet.

The start of this morning will be mostly clear, with a little cloud cover beginning to move in by mid day. With strong southerly winds temps will be on the warm side, at least until the late afternoon when a cold front will barrel through.

The storm we have been focusing on since Wednesday is right on track to bring widespread showers tonight into Saturday.

In California we call almost anything that creates rain or wind a “storm”, but you certainly couldn’t blame some for asking, “well, where is it?”

The forecast is actually quite on track. We never expected the start of the multi-day system to be the strongest. We have seen a little bit of rain and a lot more wind thus far but the strongest part of the system is still on the way later today into Saturday.

Let's time out those tonight's rain chances!

Clear conditions will stick around into the afternoon as the low pressure slowly closes in on the coast. By 5 p.m. though scattered showers will begin.

That first impulse of rain won't bring too much accumulation wise but it will bump up winds. Just a little later by late tonight the core low pressure will arrive and will bring enough energy to create a few thunderstorms but manly more widespread showers.

Those showers will stick around overnight into Saturday morning. Thankfully Saturday will be far from a wash out, skies will clear and sunshine is expected by the afternoon.

Alongside the rain winds will continue to be a problem.

Wind advisories are back, right now there is an advisory for the Santa Barbara county high country for S winds of 20-30 with gust potential to 40 and 50mph though 10 p.m. Friday. Breezy conditions are expected elsewhere, just not at advisory strength.

On top of the rain we have already accumulated over the past few days around a half an inch more is expected with more at mountain peaks.

Add that to the rain we have already accumulated from the storm on Wendesday and overnight we are close to the original forecast of 0.5" to 1.5" of rain.

While we’ll get some wind the surf looks to stay under 10ft, so no advisory has been issued.

The system moves out later Saturday then temps warm back into the 70s, even mid 70s. We will stay clear even through Thanksgiving!

Have a wonderful Friday and great weekend Central Coast!
