Good morning Central Coast!
Kicking off the morning it is a little damp thanks to showers pushing through the region overnight. This won't last long and is only expected to bring a few hundreths of an inch of rain to most locations with a few communities picking up a tenth of an inch or so.
For up to date rain totals check out this interactive map!
Most of the rain activity today looks to be centered in the morning but a few isolated afternoon showers can't be ruled out, these are unlikely but would be very quick moving.
This morning's temps are about 10 degrees warmer than yesterday but despite this we aren't going to warm up too much. Highs will be in the low 60s today across the region.
As the rain we saw this morning pushes south a high pressure ridge will build into the Central Coast and set us up for some sunshine this afternoon, Thursday and even for Friday morning.
Friday afternoon will bring a big change though. A low pressure will eject from the North Atlantic and push a cold front into the West Coast. For us that means showers will begin late Friday evening and kick off a soggy weekend.
Storm after storm will push through bringing on and off showers until Sunday night. A that point a stronger front will push through and bring a period of much heavier rain, thunderstorms and winds. Sunday night into Monday afternoon will be the bulk of the accumulations and risk.
If you add all that activity up this storm will be substantial. Models are currently looking at between 1.5" and 3" of rain.
It's still an early outlook and the cumulative rain picture could change. I'll keep a close eye on changes going forward.
Have a wonderful day Central Coast!
