UPDATE (3:38 p.m.) - Forward progress of the fire has been stopped, according to CAL FIRE.
At last check, the fire had burned four acres.

(2:49 p.m.) - Firefighters responded to a brush fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon in the Santa Maria Riverbed.
The fire was first reported just after 2:15 p.m. east of Highway 101.
According to CAL FIRE, three acres of brush has burned.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
