Firefighters are mopping up a vegetation fire that broke out early Friday morning in San Luis Obispo.
According to fire officials, a tree caught fire near the Margarita Apartment Complex on the 600 block of Johnson Ave.
Officials say the fire was started in a transient camp near the complex but it is undetermined if the fire was started intentionally.
The fire did not come in contact with the apartment complex, but all residents were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The fire spread to vegetation and caused one northbound lane of Highway 101 at California Blvd. to be temporarily closed.
The fire was knocked down in about 25 minutes around approximately 4:45 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The SLO City Fire Department asks community members to call 911 if you see smoke or flames.
