Brush fire breaks out near Nipomo post office

UPDATE (12:15 p.m.) - Firefighters are mopping up after extinguishing a brush fire behind the CVS drug store and Nipomo post office Friday morning.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation. A homeless encampment is located nearby, but it's unknown at this time if it is related to the fire.

The fire reportedly burned a little less than a quarter-acre of brush.

PG&E reported one customer in the area without power.

UPDATE (11:55 a.m.) - CAL FIRE reports power lines were found down in the area. PG&E is en route.

(11:26 a.m.) - A brush fire broke out off Tefft Street in Nipomo Friday morning.

It was first reported at about 11:15 a.m. and was burning in an area behind the CVS drug store and the post office.

CAL FIRE said the fire consisted of two smaller spot fires in a vacant lot behind the businesses.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
