Wednesday night into Thursday rain could be impressive

We are still in the calm before a larger storm Wednesday night into Thursday. The weather much of Wednesday will see increasing clouds and winds later in the afternoon. While a few showers are possible before the evening it is much more likely that heavier rains hold off until Wednesday evening into Thursday.

The low pressure system on the way is a winter-style system with strong support from upper level winds. This will turn surface winds SW in the afternoon and evening priming the pump for larger rain potential.

Rain with scattered thunderstorms are expected with cold air aloft with the system. The bulk of the system will move thru Wednesday night into Thursday morning but lingering showers Thursday are possible with thunderstorms less likely but not entirely ruled out.

The range of rain potential with the storm range from .50-2″ The heaviest rain potential is near the coast and coastal SW facing hills.

After the stsyem departs NW winds 15-25mph are expected with partly cloudy skies.

Interestingly there is still another chance of rain Saturday night into Sunday morning, but much lighter and still ANOTHER possible next Tuesday. The system next Tuesday also has larger potential in the 1″ inch range. This much activity in May is rare.
