Head to the coast to beat the heat

Posted

Morning marine layer and coastal fog will look and feel pretty good Friday, especially if you’re coming from the interior valleys where daytime highs will continue to hit triple digits.

On Friday, temperatures at the beaches will range from the upper 60s to mid-70s with partly cloudy skies. Expect winds to be mild but gusty at times throughout the afternoon hours.

Coastal valleys will warm up to the upper 70s to upper 80s ahead of the weekend with mostly clear skies by the afternoon. There will be morning fog during the commuting hours and a mild breeze heading into the lunch hour. Similar to the beaches, wind gusts could pick up and reach 30 miles per hour and stay there until the early evening. The interior valleys are letting up a little bit on the heat and lowering into the upper 90s for some areas, but triple-digit temperatures will still persist for cities like Atascadero and Paso Robles. An upper high will start to strengthen at the end of the weekend, which will result in interior valley temperatures getting close to 110 degrees by Tuesday.
