Hot weather continues with minor weekend relief

Posted

Another hot day for the interior of both SLO and Santa Barbara counties with plenty of triple digit readings again.  For Paso Robles it was the 10th straight day where temps were over 100 and that looks to continue into the weekend before perhaps a few days of minor cooling before the heat returns again.

At the coast it is a different story entirely, the marine clouds have been around for the night and morning hours and that will continue for the weekend and most of next week.  Temperatures at the beaches have been in the 60s with the coastal valleys in the 70s and 80s, that looks to continue.  We’ll see clearing for most locations with NW afternoon winds to about 20mph.  There are no advisories in place except some air quality alerts for smoke and haze from California wildfires highs continue to linger in the area.

Computer models are showing an area of low pressure trying to dig into the Pac NW for the weekend which may cause some minor cooling inland (under 100 finally) however the same model also shows a rebuilding ridge pushing the upper low out and the beginning of another heat wave around the middle of next week.
