Highway 1 closed south of Lompoc after major injuries crash

UPDATE (6:54 a.m.) Highway 1 is closed in both directions between Lompoc and Highway 101 in Gaviota because of a major injuries collision. Officials are warning drivers to avoid the area. Crews are on scene now.


Officers have shut down Highway 1 approximately 10.5 miles south of Lompoc after a major injuries crash Friday morning.

According to the CHP CAD page, a vehicle rolled over just before 6 a.m. Crews and a helicopter responded. The highway was shut down and officers warn that it could stay closed for several hours.

Drivers should avoid the area and prepare for commute delays if they are headed that way.

CHP would not comment on how many people were injured or to the extent of their injuries. Caltrans is setting up closures on Highway 101 at the Highway 101 off ramp and the State Route 246 off ramp.
