Stanford Sub-Regional Information: Defending national champion Stanford earned the No. 3 seed for the NCAA Tournament and will host the first and second round. Cal Poly is the No. 3 seed in the Stanford sub-regional where they will take on Georgia in the first round. The Bulldogs are making their 10th tournament appearance and first since 2013. They finished the regular season with an overall record of 20-9, finishing fifth in the SEC with a 12-6 record. They currently have an RPI of 31. Cal Poly's current RPI is 37. This will be just the second meeting all-time with Georgia, with the Bulldogs winning the only matchup in 1990. The Cardinal concluded their regular season with a 24-4 overall record. They won the Pac-12 after going 18-2 to claim their 19th league title and automatic bid. Cal Poly is 8-13 all-time against Stanford, with the last meeting coming in 2016, with Stanford winning in five sets. Denver finished the regular season 23-8 and claimed its fifth Summit League title to earn the automatic bid. Cal Poly is 3-0 all-time against the Pioneers with the last meeting happening in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2017. The Mustangs swept Denver in that match.

Recapping The 2019 Season: The 2019 Mustang volleyball team finished the regular season with a 20-8 overall record and 13-3 in the Big West for a second place finish. It is the first time since 1984-86 that Cal Poly has had three straight sea- sons of 20-plus win seasons. The Mustangs went undefeated at home
for the third straight year to extend their nation's-best longest active home winning streak to 32 matches, and swept the University of Hawai'i for the first time in program history. Cal Poly also boasted two wins over AVCA Top 25 teams in No. 16 Utah and No. 19 Hawai'i.

Past NCAA Tournament Appearances: Although Cal Poly is making its 17th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Mustangs have failed to advance past the third round in any showing. The lengthiest runs came in 1982, 1983, 1985 and 2007 as Cal Poly won its first two matches each of those years before falling. The Mustangs are 14-16 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Last year, Cal Poly fell in the first round to San Diego, 3-1. The previous year, the Mustangs swept Denver in the opening round before falling to UCLA in the second round in four sets. Overall, Cal Poly has won its opening-round match on ten occasions.
