Joey Ruddell qualifies for Hershey National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships

Joey Ruddell of Morro Bay High School captured the 2019 USATF Region 16 Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships high jump title with a height of 6’8″ last weekend at Modesto Junior College in Modesto.

With the victory, Ruddell advances to the 2019 USATF Hershey National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, July 22-28.

Ruddell has been able to springboard his successes from the school season to the summer.

The soon-to-be Pirates senior took first place at the Ocean League Championships and CIF Central Section and Masters Championships last spring. Ruddell also placed fifth at the CIF State Finals.

Ruddell soared to a personal record of 6’10” during the Maurice Greene Invitational at Oaks Christian High School in March.
