San Luis Obispo High School teammates Brooks Lee and Cooper Benson, as well as Mission Prep High School’s Dylan Beavers, received national recognition Monday morning for their efforts on the diamond during their senior seasons.
Lee and Benson were named First Team High School All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Lee, a switch-hitting shortstop who will play college ball for Cal Poly next year, hit for a .405 average with two home runs, 13 doubles, 10 walks, and 25 RBI.
Benson, an Arizona State commit, dominated on the mound and at the plate. The big lefty finished the season with a 9-3 record, 0.58 ERA, and 101 strikeouts in 59.2 innings of work. Benson also batted .364 with three home runs and 30 RBI.
The Tigers finished second place in the Mountain League with a 23-5-1 overall record and 9-3 in league play.
As for Beavers, the Mission Prep slugger was named All-USA Honorable Mention by USA Today. The Cal commit belted 12 home runs with a .529 batting average, 36 RBI, and 25 stolen bases. Beavers also recorded a 2.33 ERA on the mound with one no-hitter in 30 innings pitched.
Beavers and the Royals shared the Ocean League title with Nipomo on the way to a 16-11 overall record.
