The Fellowship of Christian Athletes held a thank you banquet Thursday night for the upcoming 2019 FCA All-Star Football Classic.

The ninth annual event was hosted by the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians at Root 246 in Solvang.

Coaches, FCA committee members, and over 20 game sponsors were in attendance.

Student-athletes from 16 schools across San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara counties will participate in the classic. Team San Luis Obispo County will be coached by Nipomo head coach Tony Dodge, while Team Santa Barbara County will be led by Righetti head coach Tony Payne.

The game has raised nearly $1.2 million since its inception in 2011.

Central Coast FCA multi-area director Luke Llamas says the banquet is a fantastic way to say “thank you.”

“It’s just a great time to get all of our sponsors, coaches, committee members, all the people that work so hard to put on this all-star football game for the Central Coast,” Llamas said. “It’s to get them together in one place and just express our appreciation, thank them, and just have a nice time of fellowship and interaction.”

The 2019 FCA All-Star Football Classic will be hosted by Righetti High School on Saturday, June 1.
