Four members of the Santa Maria girls soccer team signed their National Letters of Intent Friday afternoon inside the SMHS gymnasium.

Goalkeeper Sara Rodriguez, midfielder Araneg Leon, and defenders Jessica Gil and Reyna Ramirez will continue playing soccer together at Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa.

The Saints finished the fall season with a 12-10-2 overall record and second place in the Ocean League.

“When I heard that my friends were also going, it was a deal, it was a done deal. I kind of always dreamed about going to a college and playing. I knew that it was something that would be almost impossible to reach because of the area we’re in, but I guess it is possible and it’s really, really amazing that I got this chance.”

The four girls will try and turnaround a Waldorf squad that went 2-11 in 2018.
