Mission Prep seniors Chase Jones, Brayden Farr, and Jared Salas signed their National Letters of Intent Thursday afternoon inside the school’s gymnasium.
Salas signed to continue his baseball career at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
“Baseball was a huge part of it, but academically speaking, I can get my Master’s there in five years, and they have my major,” Salas said. “They have a really great program there for criminal justice so that was a huge factor in it, and also going to school with one of my best friends will make it a lot easier.”
Jones will be joining Salas at Buena Vista University. A defensive standout on the Royals’ 2018 CIF Central Section 8-man championship team, Jones signed with the Beavers to continue not only his football career but baseball career as well.
“It’s going to make it a lot easier. I know it’s going to be hard moving thousands of miles away, but I think having him around is going to be a lot easier,” Jones said about moving to Iowa with Salas. “I’m just really excited I get the chance to play two sports, and football I can play both sides of the ball.”
Farr will also be heading East to Iowa, but instead, he’ll be attending Dordt College in Sioux Center. The 2018 Central Sierra League MVP will be continuing his career on the gridiron with the Defenders’ football team.
“I’m excited to be a part of this squad and get out there and start working out with the guys,” Farr said. “I actually got a chance to talk to an engineering professor there at Dordt, and he’s a very knowledgeable guy. I really liked what I was talking to him about and I’m excited to get out there.”
