The 1 Dream Hoops organization announced the creation of a new youth basketball program at St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria.

Founder Tom Mott, the athletic director and head boys basketball coach at St. Joseph, said that his associate head coach Garrett Wood and St. Joseph head girls basketball coach Analise Riezebos will lead skills and drills clinics throughout the months of March, April, and May.

The programs are designed for boys and girls in grades 5-12 with various skill ranges.

There will also be clubs teams competing in the ‘Dream League’ from the end of March to the end of April.

Tournament director Eli Burk says this program is a great opportunity for Central Coast athletes to polish their skills and grow their love for the game.

“I think when you have a market like Santa Maria, and even just the Central Coast in general, there’s a large population of people who love the game of basketball,” Burk said. “We really want to be able to give people the opportunity to get better. A lot of people are finding their passion for the game and these programs and schools that are finding success really want to be able to continue that success.”
