In between the men’s and women’s basketball games at Cuesta College Saturday night, there was a special ceremony dedicating the name of their gymnasium in honor of Dr. Gilbert H. Stork.

Gil worked at Cuesta for 51 years, starting as an educator and assistant football coach in 1967, and then retiring as the president and superintendent in 2018.

Gil, beloved by so many in the San Luis Obispo area, was one of 26 survivors of the 1960 Cal Poly football plane crash which killed 22 people.

There’s no stopping this man, and now his name will hang high on the Cuesta College gymnasium forever.
