Mission Prep football is returning back to an 11-man program for the 2019 season. The Royals shifted to an 8-man program in 2017 due to declining numbers.

During that first year of 8-man, Mission Prep brought in head coach David Schuster. In his second year at the helm, Schuster led the Royals to a 2018 league title, and an undefeated season, including winning its first three games as an 11-man team.

Mission Prep has a healthy roster for both its varsity and junior varsity squads and say, it only makes sense to transition back.

“We took a lot of time to evaluate the roster, evaluate the status of the program, the momentum, the energy, and the direction of the program. With the success of our 11-man games this year and the fact that JV grew so much this year, it came as a pretty easy decision,” Schuster said.

Since schedules are made two years in advance, the Royals will play as an independent team next year and make a big to join a league in 2020.
