Lompoc’s Cameron Iribarren and Righetti’s Claire Alford took home Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week honors.
Alford, a sophomore on the Warriors’ girls golf team, shot a 39 last Monday at Chalk Mountain against Atascadero. She followed up that performance with a 47 at the Mountain League tournament on Thursday.
“I really always put in my best effort,” Alford said. “On Monday, I think I had a good match at Chalk Mountain. Thursday, it didn’t go as well but everyone has bad days. I’m really looking forward to getting out there and playing my next match.”
Iribarren, a junior quarterback on the Braves’ football team, ran for 164 yards and scored two touchdowns as Lompoc defeated St. Joseph, 24-21. Iribarren rushed for 64 yards on the final drive of the 4th quarter to set up an Aldoberto Anguiano 38-yard game-winning field goal.
“Honestly, I feel like I just have to congratulate the offensive line,” Iribarren said. “The o-line battled their hearts out on Friday against a tough team. St. Joseph’s defense is really good, to be honest. They’ve really held up against other Division 1 teams.”
