KSBY’s Friday Night Highlights Week 2 ‘Game of the Week’ features Lompoc taking on Bishop Diego.
The Braves (1-1) opened its season on the road defeating Simi Valley 49-28 but are coming off its first loss of the season. Lompoc was sacked five times and gave up four interceptions to St. Paul in a 31-13 loss.
That was followed by a tough week of practice after learning the loss of a friend. "The kids are going through a hard time. one of their friends that they grew up with lost his life over the weekend," said Andrew Jones, Lompoc head football coach. "It’s been a rough week of practice trying to recover from that. Just a tough situation and hopefully we can get it rolling on Friday."
Despite the hardships, scheduling a match against Bishop Diego (1-1) has always been a game Lompoc wanted. "Bishop Diego is just a well coached team. We look forward to the match up. This game will prepare us obviously for league and hopefully a playoff run," Jones said.
The game will be on Friday at Santa Barbara City College. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
