Shannon MacNeil, our senior reporter for KSBY News Daybreak, is excited to bring her passion for journalism to the Central Coast. She joined the team in October 2024, after hosting a lifestyle show called Studio 17 at KGET in Bakersfield.
Shannon’s journey in broadcast journalism began at West Virginia University, where she earned her degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Dance. She started her career in Missoula, Montana as a Multimedia Journalist and Live Desk Anchor for NBC Montana, covering a diverse range of topics, including critical investigations into human trafficking. After two years, Shannon moved closer to her hometown of Akron, Ohio, taking on a role in Cleveland, where she reported on everything from the NFL Draft and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions to community resilience during extreme flooding, and more.
Throughout her career, Shannon has reported on a wide variety of stories, from hard-hitting investigative pieces to feel-good community features, always aiming to bring the most engaging and relevant news to her viewers. At KSBY, she’s especially focused on consumer stories, helping viewers save money and navigate financial challenges in today's world.
When she’s off the clock, Shannon loves exploring the beautiful Central Coast with her dog, Huck, and is always on the lookout for her next foodie adventure. Looking ahead, she’s eager to expand her career at KSBY, continuing her commitment to making a meaningful impact through community-centered storytelling.
