In Santa Maria, demolition on what used to be the Original Roadhouse Grill was underway this weekend.
That building, along with the closed Hometown Buffet restaurant next to it, were approved to undergo changes in August.
City officials say the development will be turned into a Starbucks and a car wash.
There's currently no set timeline for when construction will be complete.
