The Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce is renewing a partnership with a national retail recruitment firm to help boost the area's economy.

In 2016, the city of Lompoc teamed up with economic development firm Retail Strategies to bring in big-name businesses.

Over the course of two years, Retail Strategies helped Lompoc recruit Starbucks, Blaze Pizza, Planet Fitness, Five Below, Ulta Beauty and Famous Footwear.

The six retailers filled empty storefronts on H St. in Lompoc while helping to drive up the sales tax and bolster the city's economy.

In light of the pandemic's major financial side-effects, the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce has decided to work with Retail Strategies again.

"We're hoping to fill vacancies, we're hoping to assist our small business community and we're hoping to grow the community as a whole," said Amber Willson, President and CEO of the Chamber.

Right now, Wilson says Retail Strategies is analyzing Lompoc's business market to identify areas of opportunity. The team will work with city leaders and the Chamber to determine the community's needs and recruit developers to the area.
