As people are looking to find jobs on the Central Coast, many are turning to temp agencies.
Wendi Patterson, Marketing Director for United Staffing Associates in San Luis Obispo, says more businesses than usual are hiring for short-term contracts rather than permanent positions.
On the other hand, job seekers are looking for longer-term positions.
Patterson says one skill people looking for jobs can now use to their advantage is the ability to use technology at home and work remotely.
"We place people of all different types, backgrounds, skills and talent but lately we have seen an influx of people who are able to work remotely," Patterson said.
San Luis Obispo County's unemployment rate was 6.7% in December 2020, the seventh-lowest unemployment rate in the state of California.
