While many businesses are struggling, one Central Coast industrial company is drilling down on its success.

Melfred Borzall manufactures bits and blade tooling for horizontal directional underground drilling.

The Santa Maria company employs 40 workers and says it has seen its best two months in business during the pandemic.

Now it's looking for more hands to help grow even further after 75 years.

"I mean, we have tooling that's going out the door faster than we can manufacture it so we're proactively looking for skilled machinists, engineers and all kinds of positions to help us keep up with our need," said Josh Parker, Melfred Borzall Digital Marketing Specialist. "It's a best-kept secret in Santa Maria, I think."

Parker says a lot of the company's success has come from building a network of sales online.
