Police are investigating after a man was reportedly shot in Lompoc Friday morning.

Lompoc police say they responded shortly after 3 a.m. to the 700 block of the North Third/Fourth Street alley when 911 calls came in reporting gunshots.

Once on scene, police say several small-caliber shell casings were found in the alley, but no victims or other evidence of a shooting was discovered.

About 30 minutes later, police say a 26-year-old man who had been shot once in the shoulder arrived at Lompoc Valley Medical Center.

The man “provided very limited information regarding how he was injured, stating that he was walking in the area when he heard the shots and then felt the impact to his shoulder. He stated he did not see his assailant,” police said in a press release.

His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Lompoc police at (805) 736-2341.
