A male juvenile died after a shooting at the Aurora ( Colorado) Town Center Friday afternoon, police said.

Officer Anthony Camacho with the police department said around 4 p.m. Friday, officers working inside the Town Center received reports of gunshots inside the JCPenney store on the first floor. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one person with a gunshot wound. That person was taken to a local hospital. At 6:20 p.m., the police department announced that the person had died. They confirmed around 8:15 p.m. that he was a juvenile.

He said nobody has been arrested in connection to the case.

"We are currently working through a lot of information and speaking with witnesses to gather any leads that we can and try to ascertain why this happened," Camacho said.

He said they believe there is no threat to the general public. He also said this appears to have been an isolated incident, not an active shooter situation.

He said at least two people were involved — the victim and the shooter — but there may be more.

The police department said there is a heavy police presence on the south side of the mall around the entrance to the JCPenney.

A witness said that he saw two men chasing after two other men inside the mall. A short time later, he heard two gunshots, he said.
