An Atascadero man is behind bars after leading officers on a high-speed pursuit through the city Thursday morning, according to the Atascadero Police Department.

The chase began about 9:15 a.m. in the 5400 block of Carrizo Road after a resident called into dispatch about a motorcyclist "riding recklessly." A 2nd resident called in a short time later saying the motorcyclist claimed to have a gun, according to Lt. Jason Carr.

When police arrived on scene, the motorcyclist fled.

Police say after reaching speeds between 80-to-100 miles an hour, the pursuit ended when the motorcycle crashed in a vacant lot near Del Rio and El Camino.

Lt. Carr says the driver, Jason Lawrence Raybon, 27, of Atascadero, was arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County jail facing a felony count of evading a peace officer, reckless driving. He also was cited for driving without a motorcycle endorsement.

Police say the pursuit was short, only lasting a few minutes.
