Two World War II veterans received surprise birthday processions and honor salutes Sunday from Welcome Home Military Heroes.

First, volunteers greeted James Murphy of Santa Maria who is turning 100-years-old.

Murphy was a prisoner of war in the Philippines and survived the Bataan Death March in 1942.

He and one of his sons wrote a book together about his time in the military called "When Men Must Live."

Afterwards, Welcome Home Military Heroes headed to San Luis Obispo to salute another World War II veteran: Joseph Abrahams who is celebrating his 104th birthday.

After serving in the army, Abrahams became a psychiatrist and worked for many years at the Atascadero State Hospital.

He says he attributes his long life to his faith.

"It has to do with, I go to sleep, and I put myself in the hands of god and I wait to see what's going to happen, and god decided I was going to live a long life," Abrahams said.

He has published several books on topics from politics to philosophy and is working on another one.

We wish them both happy birthdays.
