A vehicle fire spread to vegetation in the Lompoc riverbed Thursday morning.
The Lompoc Fire Department says crews were dispatched to the 1600 block of North H Street around 8:30 a.m. on the northwest side of town and found a disabled vehicle had caught fire and the flames had spread to a nearby homeless encampment.
The fire was put out within an hour, according to fire officials.
A small portion of vegetation burned.
The investigation is ongoing.
