Atascadero Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a residential fire on the 1500 block of El Camino Real Monday night that resulted in minor injury to a fire crew member.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

According to Fire Captain Chris Robinson, the fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes.

He says the fire — made worse by the large amount of personal belongings in the home — was initially found coming from the bedroom windows and moving into the kitchen and outside the back of the structure.

The first fire crews at the scene also saw the fire going into "an attic space that was difficult to access," Robinson says.

The Fire Captain estimates the crews saved $50,000 worth of property value, but the home owner lost nearly $250,000 of property value and $15,000 in content value.

Nineteen fire crew members worked to extinguish the fire.
