UPDATE (8:50 p.m.) - The Monterey County Sheriff's Department is offering a $5,000 cash reward for information that could lead to the capture of the escaped inmates.
Officials say they will be holding a press conference Monday at noon.
Deputies say Fonseca is 5’7” and 150lbs. Salazar is 5’7 and 170lbs. Both are Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes. Both have been in custody since 2018.
Authorities are encouraging people to call their department if they see these two men adding "Do not approach them as they are considered dangerous" in a Facebook post.

ORIGINAL STORY (Nov. 3rd 11:30 a.m.) - The Monterey County Sheriff's Office tweeted Sunday morning that two inmates escaped from Monterey County Jail.
Both inmates, Santos Fonseca and Jonathan Salazar, were reportedly in custody for murder and other violent charges.

KSBY has called the Monterey County Sheriff's Office seeking more information and the call was not immediately returned.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information about the inmates' whereabouts to call 831-755-3722.
