(UPDATE: 8:00 a.m.) - CHP is beginning a full lane closure of Southbound 101 between Gaviota and El Capitan.
CHP says crews will be working to clear a tanker truck that crashed into the center divider.
These closures are expected to be in place for the next 3 to 5 hours.
CHP recommends driver to take Highway 154 as an alternate route.

The California Highway Patrol is reporting a crash along Highway 101 southbound between Gaviota and El Capitan is blocking the number one lane of the highway Thursday morning. CHP officials say once the tow truck arrives that all southbound lanes in that area will close temporarily.
According to CHP, the crash was reported around 4:45 Thursday morning near the Arroyo Hondo Bridge when a tanker truck went through the center divide guardrail. Officials are reporting the tanker truck was carrying nitrogen, but it's not yet clear if the crash resulted in injuries.
