Templeton firefighters are raising money to fight cancer this Valentine's Day weekend.

The Templeton Fire Stairclimb Team is raising money for cancer research in its fifth annual "Firefighters and Flowers for a Cure" fundraiser.

All the proceeds from the event will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting blood cancer in the world.

Templeton firefighters are selling at three different locations Saturday until sundown:

  • Templeton Legion Hall (805 S Main St.)
  • Templeton Fire Station (206 5th St.)
  • Barrelhouse Brewing Company (3055 Limestone Way, Paso Robles)

Fire Captain Brandon Wall said he appreciates all the community members that have supported the cause so far.

"We have a lot of repeat customers because they know where the money is going, directly up to cancer and for cancer research and to help these patients and to support the families.," Chief Wall said.

Chief Wall said the fire department hopes to raise more than $10,000 this year.
