A surfer was pronounced dead after suffering an apparent head injury in Pismo Beach Friday morning, officials confirm to KSBY News.
Emergency crews were called to the beach off of Cypress Street at about 10 a.m.
CAL FIRE says CPR was performed on the male surfer, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His name and age have not been released.
State Parks says two rangers and four State Parks lifeguards responded to the scene to assist police with the call and perform CPR for approximately 30 minutes before medics arrived on scene.
KSBY reached out to Pismo Beach police for additional information but has not yet heard back.
