Small businesses in downtown San Luis Obispo say they are seeing more foot traffic thanks to the city's "Buy Local Bonus Program."

The initiative gives $20 gift cards to people who spend at least $100 at any local business.

Buen Dia Design, an art and home goods shop on Broad Street, opened up three weeks ago.

The co-owners of store say the Buy Local Bonus Program has helped their business grow in the short time they've been open.

"It's great, especially at a time like this because it encourages people to continue shopping and [helps them] feel good that they're not only supporting small businesses, but that they earn something back for that," said Johnathan Ventura, Co-Owner of Buen Dia Design.
