San Luis Obispo police arrested a man Wednesday who is suspected of multiple shootings since October of last year.

Police say eight reports of gunfire were reported between October 2019 and March 19, 2020, in the 200 and 300 blocks of Elks Lane. In one case, officers found multiple bullet holes in the side of a motor home that was in long-term storage. Officers reportedly searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects.

On March 19, police say they received a report of a single gunshot into an occupied home in the 300 block of Elks Lane. Officers searched the home and the nearby creek but were again unable to locate a suspect.

Since then, police say they've received seven additional reports of shots fired or fireworks in the area. In one case, officers reportedly located a single gunshot into a large water pipe.

Police say officers searched the creek area again on Wednesday and located Guy Wicks, 59, and arrested him on suspicion of possessing an assault weapon, possessing a high-capacity magazine, being a felon in possession of ammunition, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police say they found evidence linking him to an AR15 rifle that was hidden in the area and they believe Wicks to be responsible for shooting into the motorhome, the occupied residence, and the water pipe.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Wicks was in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail with bail set at $50,000.

Police are asking anyone with additional information about these shooting incidents to call SLOPD Detective Benson at (805) 594-8059 or Crime Stoppers at (805) 549-STOP.
