The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival will honor director/screenwriter/producer Lawrence Kasdan with the King Vidor Award this year.

The 2020 SLO Film Fest takes place March 17-22. The King Vidor Award, which recognizes an artist's career achievement, will be presented on Saturday, March 21.

Kasdan is known as a screenwriter for his work on "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Other notable films he wrote and produced include "Silverado," "The Accidental Tourist," "The Bodyguard," and "Wyatt Earp."

Recently, Kasdan has turned his attention to documentary filmmaking. A film titled "Last Week at Ed's," which Kasdan made with his wife, Meg, will be shown during the film festival.

The March 21 event begins at 7 p.m. at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $15 for students. The event will begin with the presentation of the George Sidney Independent Film Awards. After the King Vidor Award ceremony, Turner Classic Movies' Ben Mankiewicz will host a discussion of Kasdan's career.

The SLO Film Fest's headquarters open February 26 and will be based this year at Hotel San Luis Obispo. For a full schedule of events and to purchase tickets, click here.
