A long-time Downtown San Luis Obispo favorite is closing its doors permanently.
SLO Brew, also known as The Carissa, on Higuera Street has been closed down during the pandemic and will not return.
Owner Hamish Marshall says the pandemic played a part in the closure.
He says they decided to consolidate resources and focus on the SLO Brew Rock location and the Rod & Hammer’s distillery.
The SLO Brew Lofts will still be open.
KSBY spoke with a San Jose man who came specifically to San Luis Obispo to try local craft beer and was disappointed to find SLO Brew closed.
“We especially like to try different beers from different towns just to see the different flavors and we were actually looking forward to trying different flavors. This looked like a staple” said Leo Britto.
According to Downtown SLO, MAC cosmetics, Abercrombie & Fitch and Founders Community Bank also closed their locations in 2021.
Four new businesses have opened up, including Buen Dia Design, Chinelo Restaurant, Monikas Macarons and Park 1039.
