The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says a 23-year-old inmate was found unresponsive in his cell Thursday morning.

Sheriff's officials say jail staff and paramedics tried to revive Isaiah Joey Johnson, but he was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m., 35 minutes after he was found.

His death is believed to be a suicide, but the sheriff's office says the coroner will conduct a complete death investigation.

Johnson had been in custody at the jail since October 20. He was arrested by the Lompoc Police Department for two outstanding warrants and for providing false information to a peace officer.
