Grover Beach residents are being asked to check surveillance footage after a sex offender was reportedly arrested for prowling.

Grover Beach police say officers responded to the 1100 block of Refugio Court at around 6:40 a.m. Friday after someone noticed a person prowling in his neighbor's yard.

Police say they were able to track the man down and later identified him as Richard Eugene Parson, 43, a convicted sex offender from San Luis Obispo.

"Mr. Parson was captured on video cameras prowling around two homes on the south side of Grover Beach. So far, investigators have compiled videos from several homes that show Mr. Parson prowling and looking through windows to homes as early as 2:50 a.m. around the neighborhoods of Rose Court, La Selva Ave., and Refugio Ct.," police said in a social media post.

Now, investigators are asking people to check video surveillance from Thursday night and early Friday morning to see if anything suspicious was captured on video.

Anyone who sees anything suspicious is asked to call (805) 473-4511.

Parson was reportedly booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of prowling and providing false identification to authorities.

Bail is set at $10,000, according to jail logs.
