C.A.R.E.4Paws is now collecting donations for its month-long Pet Food & Matching Donation Drive.
The organization provides a variety of services for low-income, senior, disabled, and homeless pet owners in Santa Barbara County, such as food distribution and free or low-cost veterinary services.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, C.A.R.E.4Paws says it's seen a huge increase in demand for its services.
"To give you just an example, we would distribute around two tons of food a year. Now we're distributing two tons of food every week, so the need has skyrocketed," said Carlos Avitia, C.A.R.E.4Paws Mobile Clinic Director.
The organization is asking for donations of dog and cat food and cat litter. Monetary donations will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000 through September 30.
Drop-off sites for donations are located at Lemos Feed & Pet Supply, Montecito Pet Shop, La Cumbre Feed, and PetSmart on Milpas Street in Santa Barbara.
C.A.R.E.4Paws also has an Amazon Wish List. More details on the donation drive can be found on the organization's website at care4paws.org/drive.
