Electricity may be turned off in parts of southern Santa Barbara County later this week.
The warning of a possible Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) issued Tuesday by Southern California Edison is for parts of Montecito, Summerland and Carpinteria on Friday, Oct. 18, from 3-5 p.m.
Williams’ office says if a shutoff were to occur, people should be prepared to be without power for three to five days.
A warning has also been issued for parts of Gaviota at the Concepcion circuit Friday from noon to 6:00pm and the Mist circuit Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.
County officials remind people to keep cell phones and portable chargers charged, gas tanks full, electric vehicles charges along with having non-perishable food and water on hand.
